I created Queen Charlotte Seafoods in 2004 Ltd. I wanted to offer people an alternative to farmed salmon which is Wild Salmon from the Queen Charlotte Islands ( Haida Gwaii) I am a second generation fisher and watched for years how a handful of large Company buyers controlled the market just like gas prices are controlled by a handful of companies.How I differ from large companies is I catch and buy fewer fish and than I value add. Creating some one of the kind products. Since all our products come from deep pristine waters all our Salmon or Tuna are at peak condition. Compared to large companies buying mass amounts of river caught fish these fish are on the downward cycle of life losing crucial nutrients every day. We will keep our products in the smoker longer because we want that real smoky flavour. We will use real Maple Syrup in our brines alot of competitors will just sprinkle on top when product are put into packaging.
We make it a rule to label all our products with species of Salmon: Chinook, Pink, Coho we don't harvest Sockeye or Chum. Unfortunately, alot of places don't label properly they either don't know where their salmon came from or don't care.
